There is no doubt about it that Geneva Airport is a confusing one. For one, what country is it in? Well, Its actually in two countries – France and Switzerland. This makes it quite a rarity indeed. I recently landed on the french side of the airport and booked a car hire Geneva Airport service upon arrival. I later found out that had I done this on the Swiss side that the rental car might actually have been more expensive. Different countries means different systems, tax etc so when you are flying into Geneva you may wish to think about which side of the airport you are landing on. I booked in advance BTW, I always do as I don’t want to be haggling with car hire agents about fees and so on and just have everything prepared online. It normally works out cheaper this way anyway so why not.
I remember a few years back waiting for a car during peak season having stupidly not thought about how busy a time of year it was. Im not gonna make that mistake again. A sore back and enough crappy airport food for a lifetime means I am more likely to be prepared these days.
